Tips for Staying in Kyoto
Book months in advance for autumn and spring. Kyoto during cherry blossom season (late March–early April) and autumn foliage (mid-November) is extraordinarily popular. Hotels sell out 4–6 months ahead during peak periods.
Get a day bus pass. The ¥700 (approx. $5) all-day bus pass covers most of Kyoto’s tourist areas and is far cheaper than buying individual tickets.
Visit Fushimi Inari early. The famous torii gate path is open 24 hours. Go before 8am to avoid crowds completely.
