Its travel case is the corridor arithmetic this series keeps honest: Kurashiki’s canal quarter four minutes west, Okayama’s garden-and-castle hub ten east, and the sparse local lodgings (plus roadside chains) holding rates when festival weekends squeeze both neighbors.
